Celebrating Uncle Joe's Birthday And More....

On January 14, 2011 we got together with Joe, Abby, Lizzie and Josh to celebrate Christmas together (way late), Joe's 30th birthday (early) and Regan's spiritual birthday (a day late).  We were unable to celebrate Christmas in December with Joe and Abby due to our schedules so we pushed it back to January.  We had a great dinner full of Joe's favorites, Brats, baked beans, sausage balls, and a PINK cake.  Actually, the pink part is NOT Joe's favorite but I found it very funny and I like picking on him.  I was making a cake for Joe and Regan and realized the only icing I had in the pantry was pink.  I did not have time to run out to the store and Joe and Abby were already on their way.  Soooo...Joe got a pink birthday cake! :)  Well, I should say half of a pink cake because Regan got the other half.  Joe, we are so blessed to have you as a brother and it was fun celebrating your BIG 3-0 with you!

 Where's Josh?
Josh checking out his new, noisy race car toy.  It makes LOTS of noises. Your parents gotta love your Aunt and Uncle. :)
Reece opening her Tangled Books and diary from Aunt Abby and Uncle Joe.
Riley was very excited to get a dog in its own carrier.
Regan is always happy with books!
This next series of photos crack me up.  Josh wanted to play with his race car but it had a ton of adult proof ties on it.  Uncle Tony was helping Josh out but obviously he was not working fast enough for Josh.
Josh seems to be thinking.... "Are you done yet?!"
 Finally, it is about time!
Joe and Regan's PINK cake!

I want to go back for a moment and write about when Regan accepted Christ in her life.  It was on January 13, 2007.  Regan and I were in her room reading a devotional for kids called, "Keys for Kids" and it was talking about salvation.  Regan was really interested in the process and was asking a lot of good questions.  So, I asked Regan if she was ready to ask Jesus to come into her life?"  She eagerly said, "Yes!" and wanted to pray with me.  So, we held hands and prayed together.  I have never heard Regan pray so confidently and clearly before!!!  I was crying tears of joy and when we were done praying, I looked up and Regan's eyes were filled with tears too and she had a huge smile across her face.  We were both so excited!!!  We ran downstairs to tell Daddy.  Daddy made sure Regan understood the meaning and importance of this lifelong commitment.  Regan understood and was very excited about her decision.  Praise the Lord!!!  Tony accepted Christ at about Regan's same age (5) and still remembers asking his Dad to pray with him at night before bed.

There is another reason this day was so special to us.  I was pregnant with a baby (before we had Reece) and the baby's due date was estimated for January 13, 2006.  But, at 6 weeks of pregnancy, I had a miscarriage.  We were very sad and January 13th would always remind us of that precious baby we lost.  But, a year later, on January 13th Regan accepted Christ.  So now, on January 13, we celebrate Regan's spiritual birthday and it is a joyful day.  What a neat way God turned our trial into a wonderful praise!  Thank You, Lord!
