Riley's First Soccer Game...

Riley had her first soccer game today and did great!  She was quite the hussler and made the first and only goal for her team, which was also the winning goal because her team won 1-0.  Way to go Riley!!!

Reece's First Soccer Game...

Reece had her first soccer game of the season today and did fabulous.  She scored the first goal of the game and then assisted her teammate in the second goal of the game.  She played very aggressive and had a great attitude.  Her team, the Blue Dolphins, ended up winning 6-0.  Way to go Reece!!!

Greco-Roman Day...

Regan's 5th grade had Greco-Roman Day on Friday, April 27th.  This is one of their largest 5th grade projects and Regan has been working on it for over a month.  Regan was assigned the Greek Goddess Athena - Goddess of war, wisdom and arts and crafts.  For the report, Regan had to write a 2 page paper about Athena, dress up as Athena and give a 2-3 minute speech and she also had to do a project for their Greek/Roman museum, which she did a model of the Roman Roads.  Regan worked very hard on this project and learned a lot.  

 Regan made her helmet out of cardboard, 4 layers of paper mache', and bronze spray paint.  She made her Medusa head shield out of cardboard, modeling clay, a Chick-fil-A platter, and bronze spray paint.  Regan made her spear out of cardboard rolls, cardboard boxes and bronze spray paint.  And we made her costume out of a white sheet and gold cording.

 Here is Regan's model of an ancient Roman road showing all the layers.  There were 5 layers that made up the roman roads:  1.) Sand  2.) Crushed rock  3.) Gravel and cement mixed (Regan used cement from a stepping stone kit)  4.) Sand, Gravel and Cement mixed  5.) Cobblestones (Regan made these out of modeling clay and then painted them gray).  Regan made the cart out of clay and then painted it.  The plastic box she used is one of Tony's model car display cases.  She did a fabulous job with this project!

Pacers Cape Run....

On Thursday, April 26 Regan's running group had a "Cape Run."  Each child wore a cape and ran through the college campus getting high fives from as many people as they could.  They kept count to see who could get the most high fives.  I think Regan got 68 high fives.  They had so much fun, despite the heat.

Chick-fil-A Cow, Really??

Reece's school was having a spirit night at our Chick-fil-A this past Wednesday night.  They usually have their spirit nights at a CFA that is closer to the school but they wanted to use our store since Reece is a student of theirs.  In order to advertise for the event and to make sure parents knew which location to go to, our store offered to have the CFA mascot in carpool lane.  However, they wanted us to come for the morning carpool and we did not have anyone to do the cow that early.  So, I offered to do it!?  And I have a really funny story to go with this, if this is not funny enough already!  We have a girl cow that is supposed to be for people under 5.5ft and I am 5.7 ft. so we were not sure it would fit me.  I decided to take the costume home after kid's night to try it on and see.  Tony was in the bedroom talking to his parents on the phone and I got dressed in the cow outfit in the other room.  I went into our bedroom to show him and scared the daylights out of him.  He was not expecting a cow to come into the room.  It was hilarious!  Unfortunately, I had a big cow head on so I could not SEE his expression, I could only hear him.  I think it was the best reaction I have ever gotten out of him. :)  Anyway, the costume fit and I made my debut this past Wednesday in carpool.  It was so much fun and the kids really enjoyed it, as did I.

Rugged Maniacs...

On Saturday, April 21st Tony and I participated in a mud run with his manager; Matt, and Matt's Fiancee', Jenn.  The mud run was called, "The Rugged Maniac" and was a 5k race on a motorcross course with about 20 obstacles throughout the run.  We ran through thick mud that almost removed our shoes, went through a pond that was full of tree stumps, rocks, thick mud and pool lanes that we had to go over, climbed over many walls varying in size from 4 ft. - 10 ft, through tires, up cargo nets, over fire, climbed through muddy pipes, crawled under barbed wire in thick, oozy mud, climbed up muddy hills with barb wire overhead, slid down muddy hills and down a slide into a pit of muddy water.  So, to sum it all up we had fun in the mud!  We thought it would be very challenging but it was not too bad.  In fact, we both thought we could do it all over again that day and we are already looking for another, more challenging, mud race in the near future. 

On another note:  I must include a funny conversation Tony and I had on the way down to the race.  Tony was playing a collection of songs on the drive down and "Life In The Fast Lane," came on and Tony claimed that as his song for the day.  Later on, "Wipe Out" came on and Tony declared that as MY song for the day.  I felt the love and encouragement coming from my husband, NOT!!!  Then, "How Do You Like Me Now," came on and Tony said, "this will be my song for after the race when I give you a big hug."  After that, "Walk This Way," came on and Tony said, "this can be your other song for the day!"  I was starting to think he had intentionally compiled these songs for the drive.  I told him, "Jenn and I would be declaring "We Are The Champions" as our song after the race!  Tony and Matt ended up beating us by about 2 minutes BUT Jenn and I started in the heat before ours (15 mins. before we were supposed to go) so our times were 15 minutes faster than theirs according to the race results.  We did not realize the race chips would mess up if we got into a different heat.  I did use my watch so I know what we ran but according to the official race results, "We Are The Champions!"  We can't help it if we are smarter then our men, making our own obstacle by "jumping into another wave!"  We call it the mystery obstacle and whoever discovers it, WINS!!! :)  So Tony, "How Do You Like Me Now??"       

 All nice and clean before the race.  We are actually waiting for a shuttle bus to take us from the parking lot to the race venue which was 3.5 miles away.  There was a snag in the transportation and they did not have enough buses going to and from.  We waited almost 20 minutes in line for a shuttle and realized if we waited much longer Tony and Matt would miss their heat.  So, Jenn and I drove them to the course and then found a nearby church parking lot to park the truck.  Jenn, all three girls, and I walked about 1/2 mile to the course carrying all our stuff and the cooler of waters and lunches.  We made it to the course in plenty of time to see Tony and Matt start.  The guys were in a different heat then us so we could take turns watching the girls.

 Apparently, being a Rugged Maniac spectator is hard work as well.  This girl was tuckered out!

 On Saturday night we grilled out for dinner.  Tony and I were sitting on the porch and I see the girls climbing up our fence. 

I went out to take their picture and Reece turned around, showed me her muscles, and said, "We are rugged!"  I just had to laugh.  Looks like we have some future Rugged Maniacs.
