Saying Goodbye....

Our last day with Grandma and Grandpa Fernandez and Aunt Ann-Marie and Uncle Dick was hard.  It is never easy to say, "goodbye."  We always have such a wonderful time with them and hate to leave.  It was a wonderful trip.

Day 5 in NY...

On day 5 of our NY trip we had breakfast with GGF's friends at McDonald's and then we went to Albany, NY for the day.  I have only seen the airport and the mall in Albany so it was fun to see the city.  We went in the Children's Museum, the State Capitol, and had lunch with Aunt Ann-Marie.  We finished our day at a local pizza shop that is very good and spent time with Aunt Ann-Marie and Uncle Dick.  It was a very full and fun day.

Albany's State Capital.  It was a very pretty Capital and we got to sit in on the Senate meeting.

They had a 9/11 memorial in the museum and this was one of the firetrucks on display from 9/11.  Very sad!

Another view of the Capital from the Children's Museum.  The fountains come on during lunchtime and many people sit outside and eat.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.

We met Aunt Ann-Marie for lunch and then took a tour of her office.  It was neat to see where she works and to meet her co-workers.  We had a great lunch eating at some vending trucks along the streetside.  We had some amazing BBQ.

This is the million dollar staircase.  It is like a maze and gorgeous.  It is hard to get a good picture due to staircases coming from all angles.

This is a carousel in the New York State Children's Museum.  The animals were carved out of wood in 1895 and were part of a track carousel.  The animals were stationary and the carousel had wheels beneath its platform that ran on a circular track.  In 1915, a new carousel was constructed and these wooden animals were placed on it and could now go up and down.  The new carousel was made to travel and was one of the largest traveling or carnival carousels made.  The original Wurlitzer Band Organ of the carousel was removed in 1956 and was reunited with the carousel in 2000 at the State of New York Museum.  It was neat to be able to ride on this work of art. 

 There were many revolving doors in the city and the girls had a blast.  They would go round and round.  It was hard to get them to stop.

 Great Grandpa and Reece take a much needed nap after a long day in Albany.  I was impressed at how GGF kept up with us.  We walked around from about 10:00 am - 3:30 pm with only a short lunch break.  I hope we can do that when we are their age. :)

Day 4 in NY...

On June 5, we went to visit Howes Cavern.  Papa Doug worked there when he was in high school.  We always love to go and tour it when we are there.   The girls had a great time on the tour and thought the cave was really neat.  I think their favorite part of the tour was the narrow winding way.  After the cavern, we came back to GGF's house to relax and play outside.

She sent Great Grandpa's ball away and has a big smile on her face.  She reminds me of her daddy with her competitiveness.

Day 3 in New York...

On June 4, we went to Cooperstown, NY where the "Baseball Hall of Fame" is.  Cooperstown is a beautiful, little town with all kinds of fun shops and restaurants.  It also has a pretty area around the Glimmerglass Lake.  We spent time walking around the town, watching some baseball at Doubleday Field, eating some good food and then enjoyed Glimmerglass Park on the way home.

Daddy and the girls tried out some pitching at this shop.  The fastest pitch in Tony's age category for the day was, 72, and Tony tried his best to beat it.  He ended up tying the record.  Regan's fastest speed was 29, Riley's was 22 and Reece's was 15.

 We enjoyed many beautiful nights on GGF's front porch.  The girls enjoyed running around and playing in their big yard.
